Introduction to the “Federal Evidence Applied”
The Federal Evidence Applied app is designed to assist legal professionals in determining the admissibility of evidence and testimony in federal courtrooms. Additionally, it serves as an educational tool for law students, providing a consistent methodology for the analysis of federal evidence.
Users are guided through various screens where they select options related to the evidence or testimony in question. The app utilizes a color-coding system, highlighting admissible content in green and inadmissible content in red, streamlining the decision-making process.
The app covers key aspects such as competency, relevancy, hearsay, authenticity, and best evidence, leading users through the relevant rules to determine admissibility or exclusion.
With 68 interrelated rules under the Federal Rules of Evidence, the app offers a step-by-step approach tailored to the specific evidence provided by users.
Featuring thousands of slides that correlate with user inputs, the app provides detailed guidance on the Rules of Evidence. Users can choose from six basic modes to initiate evidence analysis: Objection, Move to Admit, Rules of Evidence, and a Search and Screen option.
The Objection mode helps users identify 19 objections with 171 subtopics, assisting in responding to objections effectively. The Move to Admit function enables users to determine admissibility for each piece of evidence or testimony they input.
Moreover, the Rules of Evidence function offers in-depth rule-by-rule analysis, making it particularly valuable for law students seeking to grasp the rules efficiently.
The Search function allows users instant access to evidence screens based on hundreds of evidentiary terms, facilitating quick analysis necessary in courtroom settings.
Each screen features relevant rule buttons that display the actual rule language upon selection. Notably, an Advisory Committee Notes button provides users with detailed legal analysis.
The app color-codes screen selections - white indicates further selections needed, green signifies admissibility if selected, and red denotes inadmissibility if chosen.
A helpful “bread crumb” feature highlights previous selections in yellow when using the back function. Additionally, blue NOTE features offer practical insights or further explanations on evidentiary matters.
Developed by legal professionals David and Tyler Shroyer, the “Federal Evidence Applied” app serves as a comprehensive tool for analyzing evidence and understanding the intricacies of federal rules.
